I’m not really old enough to understand the whole Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica thing. I think I was born a few years too late. But did you know that it’s also a show? It is. I watched it the other day. I forget what time it was, but it was the only thing that I could bring myself to watch (right now, we only have like 20 channels, but like half of those are home shopping network, christian networks, or some show dedicated to city planning or something like that. So that basically means we have 10 watchable channels. But during the mid-afternoon, a lot of those channels like to dedicate their space to courtroom shows, and I’m sorry but I just can’t watch that drivel…unless it’s Judge Judy and she’s bringing the smack down. But Christina’s Court? Come on!
But back to Archie. The channel I was watching it on, had the E/I symbol in the corner of the TV, which I know stands for educational/informational. The specific episode I was watching was a Halloween episode, and it dealt with vampires. What is really educational OR informational about that? You may think, hey they’re informing you about vampires and stuff, but I’m sorry – in the show, when the rose up and the evil vampire was turned to stone, everyone else who had been turned into a vampire was changed back into a human. Now, I’m not an expert on vampires or anything, but I do know that there’s no looking back once you’re a vampire. Once a vampire, always a vampire. Also in the show, the vampires could fly. Without turning into a bat. I don’t support that. They were also pretty stupid vampires, yet almost everyone managed to fall victim to the vampires. Whatever. There was another time that I watched this show, and there were giant mutated bees who could talk. I don’t really feel like that’s teaching kids a whole lot. Especially because if bees really did mutate and grow, their queen wouldn’t be so darned thin.

I’ve read a few Archie comics in my childhood, but I didn’t know there was a television show. Do they just turn everything into a tv show now? I’m disappointed about how they are misinforming kids about vampires though. And giant mutated bees apparently. How are they going to know what to do when there’s a vampire after them and Buffy’s not around to save them?
Well, I have heard the legend that if the head vampire dude is killed, all of his minions turn back to normal, but that is not a widely accepted view.
Also, I agree with the crazy way that the E/I symbol is assigned. Did you know they put that symbol on Saved by the Bell???? Sometimes they do “learn a lesson” in the episodes, but I definitely would not call it educational.
