Target is RUINING CHRISTMAS.

Seriously, Target?!! I am so angry at you for making Christmas awkward and snotty and gloomy. I was going to not shop there anymore, but then Steve needed socks and underwear… But still, I hope Target read this and feels bad. As bad as their Electronics commercial makes me feel:

Ack! Sure this may be an example of a real family situation, but when is Christmas about reality anyway?! Christmas is about love and magic and joy and forgiveness and about seeking out those things in our lives. Even in commercials whose bottom lines may be just to sell us things (which I don’t always think is true). Also, the commercial is just painfully unsuccessful at being funny. Since it is Christmas, I won’t wish for the Target Marketing Dept. to be fired, but they better pull those ads soon because I get a little humbug everytime I see one. Thank goodness for the classic Hershey’s Kisses Bell Choir or I would be a broken soul this holiday.

Yeah, there are a whole bunch of those Target ads and they are all really bad. There is one with a boyfriend and girlfriend at a restaurant that is just cringe-worthy. But unfortunately, I could never stop shopping at Target.

Ohh, I love the classic Hershey’s kisses commercial! It’s on tv RIGHT NOW. I also love the classic M&M commercial where they bump into Santa & one of them says “He does exist!” and Santa says “I do exist?!” and then faints. Love it. And the Campbell soup one where the snowman comes in from outside – but he defrosts while eating the soup & it turns out he’s just a boy! 🙂 Ahhhh, old school commercials are the best.

Also, totally agree with Christmas not being about reality.

Ooh and while I was watching Miracle on 34th Street the other night, it occurred to me that even with that movie to serve as a good example, no company is going to send you to another store to get an item they don’t have. I wish they would – especially with books or dvds – but oh well.

Whilst I am not of the ‘bah humbug Christmas is too commercialised’ crowd it does upset me to see things like that Target ad! I don’t think they’ve inflicted anything like that on us here in Australia ( I don’t watch a lot of TV so aren’t 100% sure).
Christmas should be a time of celebration and wonder and its so sad to see the negativity that is creeping in.

Jill, I love that M&M commercial, too! It always makes me laugh.
